    Privacy Policy

    Effective date: September 21, 2026

    AskLara is operated by Smooth Consulting UG (haftungsbeschraenkt), Mozartstr. 35, 70180 Stuttgart, Germany ("AskLara," "we," "us," or "our"). You can contact us at support@asklara.app.

    This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use the AskLara mobile app and related services. AskLara is intended for parents and other adults, not for use by children.

    This Privacy Policy also serves as our notice at collection for the categories of information described below. If a separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy is required for your location, see our Consumer Health Data section below.

    Information We Collect

    We collect the information needed to provide and improve the app:

    • Account and app identifiers, such as your Firebase user ID, internal user ID, device ID, authentication tokens, platform, and basic technical information.
    • Parenting profile information you choose to provide, such as whether you are pregnant or have a child, due date or child-age information, optional child name or a placeholder such as "Baby," and onboarding answers such as topics, wishes, daily-life context, priorities, and answer style.
    • Chat and content data, including your questions, chat history, AI-generated answers, message ratings, app feedback, and optional contact email if you submit feedback.
    • Subscription information, such as RevenueCat app user ID, Apple purchase receipts, product identifiers, entitlement status, subscription status, renewal status, and transaction-related metadata.
    • Push-notification information if you enable notifications, such as Expo push token, device ID, platform, timezone, locale, notification preferences, delivery/open events, and related template identifiers.
    • Analytics and usage information if you consent to analytics, such as screen views, button taps, onboarding progress, feature usage, technical app events, device/app information, and similar product-usage data.
    • Server and security logs, such as IP address, request metadata, timestamps, error logs, and diagnostic information.

    Please do not submit information that is not needed for parenting guidance. Do not let a child use the app directly or submit personal information.

    Sensitive Pregnancy and Child Context

    Some information you choose to provide, such as pregnancy status, due date, postpartum context, child age, child name, or family-related questions, may be sensitive. We use this information to personalize AskLara, generate relevant responses, maintain your app experience, improve reliability, and protect the Service. We do not use this information for advertising, and we do not sell or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

    Consumer Health Data

    Some information you choose to provide or generate in AskLara may be considered "consumer health data" under certain US state laws, including Washington's My Health My Data Act. This may include pregnancy status, due date, postpartum context, child age, child-related context, health-adjacent questions, and inferences needed to provide parenting guidance.

    We collect this information from you when you enter it in the app, from your app interactions, and from related app records such as chat history, onboarding answers, notification preferences, and support messages. We collect and use consumer health data only to provide and personalize AskLara, generate relevant AI-supported responses, maintain your app experience, improve reliability, respond to requests, protect the Service, and comply with law.

    We may share consumer health data with service providers needed to provide AskLara, including OpenRouter and the AI model providers used through OpenRouter for AI response generation, backend and database providers, support and security providers, and app infrastructure providers. We do not sell consumer health data. We do not use consumer health data for advertising. We do not use geofencing around health care facilities.

    Where required, we ask for your consent before collecting or sharing consumer health data. You may withdraw consent, request access, confirm whether we collect or share consumer health data, or request deletion by contacting support@asklara.app. We may need to verify your identity or account control before fulfilling a request.

    How We Use Information

    We use information to:

    • provide the app, create or restore your account, and keep your conversations available;
    • personalize answers based on pregnancy week, child age, child name if provided, and your onboarding context;
    • generate AI-supported responses to your questions;
    • manage subscriptions, trials, entitlements, and access to paid features;
    • send push notifications you enable and track whether notifications work;
    • respond to support, feedback, safety, or technical requests;
    • improve app quality, reliability, content, onboarding, and product decisions;
    • attribute installs and subscriptions to advertising, measure campaign performance, and optimize ads through Meta;
    • prevent abuse, debug errors, maintain security, and comply with legal obligations.

    AI Processing

    AskLara uses OpenRouter and the AI model providers used through OpenRouter services to generate AI-supported answers. To answer your questions, we may send your question, relevant chat history, pregnancy or child-age context, optional child name, and other relevant onboarding context to OpenRouter and the selected AI model provider. The AI output may be inaccurate or incomplete and does not replace professional medical, psychological, legal, or emergency advice.

    OpenRouter, Inc. is based in the United States and routes requests to AI model providers. Retention and processing practices depend on the provider and configuration. See the OpenRouter Privacy Policy and model provider information. Questions and context may contain personal information; they are not necessarily anonymous.

    Do not use AskLara for emergencies. If you or your child may be in danger, contact local emergency services or a qualified professional immediately.

    Analytics and Consent

    We use Firebase Analytics only if analytics consent is enabled in the app. Analytics helps us understand how the app is used and where it needs improvement. You can change analytics consent in the app settings.

    Advertising measurement through Meta is separate from Firebase product analytics and is described below.

    Meta Tracking and Advertising

    We use the Meta SDK (App Events) in the AskLara app and RevenueCat's server-to-server integration with Meta to attribute installs and subscriptions, measure advertising performance, and optimize ads on Facebook and Instagram. Meta may combine this information with information from its services for advertising across apps and websites.

    Depending on your platform, permissions, and available identifiers, this processing involves the Meta SDK identifier (Facebook Anonymous ID), advertising identifiers (IDFA or Android advertising ID), IDFV, IP address, app and operating-system versions, technical device information, app activations, and event timestamps. RevenueCat may also send trial, subscription, and renewal events with product identifiers, amounts, and currency. These data are not anonymous. We do not send chat content, pregnancy information, or information about your children to Meta.

    Recipients include Meta Platforms, Inc. in the United States, Meta Platforms Ireland Limited in Ireland, and RevenueCat, Inc. in the United States for subscription event forwarding. App Events are transmitted in connection with app use. RevenueCat sends subscription events separately from its servers, including when the app is closed. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries. Retention depends on attribution and measurement needs and legal requirements; recipient practices are described in the Meta Privacy Policy and RevenueCat Privacy Policy.

    Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

    We do not sell personal information for money. Sharing identifiers, app activity, and subscription event information with Meta for advertising may qualify as a "sale," "sharing," or "targeted advertising" under applicable US state privacy laws. Where applicable, you have the right to opt out of these uses. Contact support@asklara.app to exercise this right or request deletion. We do not use chat content, pregnancy information, or information about your children for these advertising purposes.

    You can change the app's tracking permission in iOS device settings or withdraw the corresponding consent in the Android app settings. Device permission changes do not automatically stop RevenueCat's separate server-to-server delivery. To withdraw consent or opt out of that delivery as well, contact support@asklara.app. Withdrawing consent does not undo processing that occurred before withdrawal.

    Do Not Track

    We do not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals. This does not limit your rights to opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising under applicable law.

    Subscriptions and Payments

    In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store and managed with RevenueCat. We do not receive your full payment-card details. Apple controls payment processing, billing, cancellations, and refund flows. We receive subscription and entitlement information needed to provide access to paid features.

    Push Notifications

    If you allow push notifications, we store and use your push token, device ID, timezone, locale, and notification preferences to deliver relevant app notifications. You can turn off notifications in your device settings and, where available, in the app.

    Service Providers

    We use service providers to operate AskLara. They process information for us or provide services used by the app:

    • Firebase / Google: authentication, analytics if enabled, app infrastructure, and related diagnostics.
    • OpenRouter and the AI model providers used through OpenRouter: AI response generation.
    • RevenueCat: in-app purchase and subscription entitlement management, and forwarding subscription events to Meta for advertising measurement.
    • Meta: advertising attribution, campaign measurement, and ad optimization.
    • Apple: App Store purchases, billing, refunds, and subscription management.
    • Expo: push-notification delivery and app-update infrastructure.
    • Backend, database, hosting, and monitoring providers: app servers, database hosting, logs, security, and availability.

    We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, to prevent abuse or fraud, or as part of a business transfer.

    Children

    AskLara is for adults and requires users to be at least 18 years old. The app is not directed to children under 13 and is not intended for children to use directly. If a child uses your device, do not let them interact with the App or submit personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information directly to us, contact support@asklara.app and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

    Parents may choose to provide child-related context, such as age or an optional first name, nickname, pseudonym, or placeholder, so AskLara can provide more relevant parenting guidance. We recommend using a nickname, pseudonym, or placeholder instead of a full legal name. AskLara does not ask children to create accounts, does not request child photos, does not request precise child geolocation, and does not track a child's behavior across third-party services.

    Your Choices and Rights

    You can:

    • change analytics and AI-consent settings in the app;
    • manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple account or App Store settings;
    • disable push notifications in your device settings;
    • delete conversations where the app provides that option;
    • request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of personal information by contacting support@asklara.app.

    Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under state privacy laws, such as the right to know or access, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, limit the use of sensitive personal information, withdraw consent for consumer health data, and not be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights. See "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" above for advertising-related choices.

    To exercise rights, contact support@asklara.app. We may need to verify your identity, account control, device/account identifiers, or request details before acting. If you use an authorized agent, we may request proof of authorization and may still ask you to verify your identity directly where permitted. We aim to respond within 45 days where that timeframe is required by applicable law, unless an extension is permitted.

    US State Privacy Notice

    For US state privacy purposes, we may collect the following categories of personal information:

    • Identifiers, such as internal user ID, Firebase ID, device ID, advertising identifiers, Meta SDK identifier (Facebook Anonymous ID), push token, and optional email if you contact us.
    • Commercial information, such as subscription status, entitlement status, product identifiers, purchase receipts, and transaction metadata.
    • Internet or network activity, such as app usage, screen views, feature interactions, diagnostics, server logs, and crash or error data.
    • Approximate location or regional information, such as timezone, locale, storefront, or IP-derived region. We do not request precise geolocation for parenting guidance.
    • Sensitive personal information or consumer health data, such as pregnancy status, due date, postpartum context, child age, optional child name or placeholder, health-adjacent questions, and related inferences.
    • Inferences, such as age-week context, pregnancy or child-stage context, notification relevance, and app-personalization context.

    Sources include information you provide, information collected automatically from your device and app usage, subscription information from Apple and RevenueCat, and service-provider diagnostics. Business purposes include providing the app, personalization, AI response generation, subscription access, notifications, analytics if consented, security, debugging, support, legal compliance, service improvement, advertising attribution, campaign measurement, and ad optimization.

    Recipient categories include advertising partners such as Meta, AI providers, authentication and analytics providers, subscription providers, app-store/payment providers, push-notification providers, hosting/database providers, support/security providers, and legal/compliance recipients when required. Retention depends on the category, account status, service needs, security, legal obligations, backup cycles, and dispute prevention. We keep data only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this Policy.

    Retention

    We keep information for as long as needed to provide the app, maintain subscriptions and account status, respond to support requests, improve reliability, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect our rights. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed for these purposes.

    If you request account deletion, we will delete account-linked conversations, onboarding data, and message ratings from our active systems, subject to legal, security, backup, and fraud-prevention exceptions.

    Security

    We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted transmission where supported, authenticated backend access, and access controls. No system is completely secure.

    International Transfers

    We are based in Germany, and our service providers may process information in the United States, the European Union, and other countries. These countries may have privacy laws different from those where you live.

    Changes

    We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, such as by updating the effective date, showing an in-app notice, or requesting updated consent where appropriate.
